Each classroom is assigned their own Art Docent Volunteer who comes in and does multiple Art Lessons throughout the school year. Each docent is given curriculum and ideas to help support the CORE Curriculum standards required for that grade level.

Our amazing Eagle Reader program is designed to promote reading at home. Minutes read are submitted into a log and can be tabulated from independent reading and or parent reading to student. Then they get to pick up a free book at our Eagle Reader Clubhouse once a month, if they have met the reading requirements. Popcorn Friday occurs on various Fridays throughout the year and each child has a chance to buy a bag of popcorn for .25 during their second recess.

A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. Entries are judged at local then state levels. Once entries reach the state level, the state PTA may select up to four entries in each of the six arts areas to submit to the National PTA. National first, second, and third place, and honorable mention entries are recognized at the National PTA Annual Convention.

Art Walk occurs every Spring. Each class makes a special project to display in the hallways of the school. Family & Friends are invited to attend and view a part of the art curriculum their child has learned that year and make a small project at an Art Station to take home. Art Walk is also accompanied by a Spring Dessert Social.

What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program:

1) Provide positive male role models for students and demonstrate by their presence that education is important.

2) Provide an extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

The Special Needs Representative is a new position on local PTA Boards.

At Maple Hills, this position's responsibilities include:
Facilitating communication between special needs families and the Maple Hills school community (teachers, staff, administration and PTA);
Providing confidential support services to special needs families within the school community;
Maintaining and sharing district and community resources available for special needs kids and their families;
Working with the school to develop programs that emphasis education, tolerance and inclusion of children with special needs; and
Answering any questions or concerns about special needs support within the school and district.

Volunteer just one hour a week supporting a student!

ONE Mentor ONE Student ONE Hour

The VOICE Mentor Program is looking for community volunteers to work one on one with Issaquah students. These students are referred by teachers and counselors as needing extra support whether it is academic, social or emotional. The Volunteers work in the school setting in partnership with the school staff.

Please help us recruit your neighbors, friends, relatives or colleagues to become a mentor.
